A tour

Written by Ilka
Today, I went on my first tour in my cool red stroller. For the trip, my parents wrapped me like an Eskimo. I thought it was quite cosy. We went for a long trip - all the way to the pedestrian zone of Plochingen! And later I learned the quadratic binomial formulas. My Dad sang them to me as a good night song.

Jakob visits

Written by Ilka
Finally I met my Cousin Jakob. His parents, Aunt Karen and Uncle Jens visited us today. I was extra nice so that they will visit again soon.

The Ghost

Written by Thomas
Last night there was a ghost in my bedroom. Mom saw it, too. Well, of course you can't really see ghosts, because they are transparent. But I noticed it when it jiggled my cradle, and Mom's bedside lamp jiggled, too. In the morning, Dad told us that it probably had been an earthquake. There also was something about it on the Radio. But I ask myself: Why would an earthquake jiggle at my cradle of all things? At any rate, I am sceptical and this evening I'm going to stay up extra late to investigate this more closely.

Splish, Splash, I was taking a bath...

Written by Thomas
...and in this bad weather, of all things! Although I protested heavily, my parents wouldn't give up their plan to put me into the tummy tub. And Mrs Brändlin, our midwife, conspired with them. But eventually, when I was in the water, I found that it was actually quite O.K. And, because it was such a nice day, I was allowed to go out for a little stroll. However, I slept most of the way. My investigation into ghosts yesterday evening must have been too wearisome. For my parents, too, incidentally...

Looky there...

Written by Thomas

...what I already can do:

  • pucker my mouth (like kissing)
  • poke out my tongue (like at the Doctor's)
  • imitate Mom eating a banana
  • stare at the finger doll that I got from Uncle Jens and Aunt Karen
  • Squeak like a rusty door

Mom is super proud of me. Which surprises me as I never thought that this was something special..

Aside from that, Dad finally "launched" my website. Now he just has to tell somebody. If he wants anybody to visit it, that is.

Funny Games

Written by Ilka

Recently I started to be awake more often. When I am, I invent challenges for Mom and Dad. For example, they have to figure out just what I fancy at a given moment - do I want to have a song, or do I want to be rocked etcetera. And if it takes them too long, I wail a little.

Actually, I don't understand at all why people always ask my parents whether I already sleep through the night. To make through the night, now that would be a feat! My cousin Juliane can do it, and she is already grown up.

Some Like It Hot

Written by Ilka
Ich don't know why they recommend only 25°C for the changing table. I like it best at 30°C. That's really relaxing. Even better: If there is a gentle warm breeze, too. Can easily be created with a hair-dryer.

Invasion!

Written by Thomas

Today, there was a lot of activity 'round here! First thing this morning, my parents started tidying up the flat. Well, I was asking myself, why bother, the way they are currently having everything "under control", it will just look the same again by tomorrow.

The reason became clear when the doorbell rang at noon: Visitors! And even three at once - more than ever before! Aunt Ursel, Uncle Paul and my cousin Katrin. Well, I remained unimpressed and finished my meal first. You have to have principles.

All three of them took turns carrying me in their arms. I liked that very much. I noted Aunt Ursel's professional technique. Obviously she's practising quite often. Katrin wants to work as a babysitter, so I was especially nice, because with those people you have to get on well. If you do, they will allow you to stay up late and watch DVDs and so on...

When it was Uncle Paul's turn, I thought by myself that hopefully he wouldn't start a discussion. This is because my parents had told me that he sometimes quite likes to do that and that my arguments were currently not yet adequate to his. Then they had said something about decibels that I didn't really get. Anyway, just to be sure, when Uncle Paul took me in his arms, I simulated falling asleep.

In the evening we went out for a stroll. In the beginning, I quite liked the cobblestone pavement of the Plochingen city center. But later, I let that whole topic of having a meal before going out for a bumpy ride go through my head once again...
